An opportunity to show prowess and skills and be a part of Skill India Mission

As we reached the venue, the huge cut-outs of ‘skill icon’ at the entrance, set the tone for what to expect inside the venue. A huge banner with #AbSkillKiBaari (now its skill’s turn) written on it was hanging at a corner. We came across many stalls on our way to the Fashion Technology Hall. And each stall had participants showing their skills in their respective fields.

Why Skill Competitions like this is the need of the hour to accomplish Skill India mission?

U.P. Skill Competition, 2018 acted as a catalyst in creating  an eco-system for skills to flourish. It motivated the youths from remote areas also, to horn their skills and be a part of the mainstream. No wonder, the event had maximum participants from ITI colleges. It also opened up a new vista of opportunities for the youths.

As one of the contestant, Puja Rajput says, “I want to start my own business. And in this two days I learned a lot about the basics of setting up a fashion business.”

The event was sponsored by the NSDC and co-sponsored by Dept. of Vocational Education and Skill Development.
